Installed this and it seemed to have issues from the start. Before reading any further, the issues I describe are extremely common on the Google Help Forums, and no one seems to get any help from Google. Even IT professions are complaining, and they are being told it's something to do with their internet service. Google knows there is an issue on their end , but it seems they have no fix for it so they blame the customer.
My service is 1Gb down and up, and the access point is 10 feet away from the doorbell unobstructed by anything other than 1 layer of sheet rock and wood siding in the exterior wall. I can view the live feed from the doorbell whenever I want, except when I need it the most, when someone rings the doorbell! I get a message on my phone and/or Echo Show 10 that the image is unavailable. At the same time, there is no way to talk through the doorbell to see who is there. Basically it does not work as a video doorbell. It does work as a video camera if no one rings the bell however. Also, the Nest Aware service has glitches. All video gets sent to Google for processing and saving before it is returned to you to view. That's how they can charge you a monthly fee. If the video was kept local, in your home, then they couldn't charge you a monthly fee. As it is they have to process the video, and then send it back to you. most of my longer videos say they are "unavailable". That's an issue where Google has them but hasn't sent them back to me. The blacked-out feed shows a message that they will be available at a later date, but they never arrive. Then just as bad are the videos that are sent back to me but go black before they are finished. Example of this is (I'll pull up saved video) the UPS guy parks the truck, I can see him get out, walk up the driveway and when he is about 10 feet away from the door, the video goes black, and says it's "unavailable". There is a progress bar showing that there is more video awaiting, but Google hasn't sent it back to be viewed. This seems to happen for all video whether they ring the bell or not. I know that it was actually recorded due to the thumbnails you get in your history page. They play at lightning speed, so you know that something was recorded but it goes by in lightning fast speed. A 30 second video is played back in thumbnail size in about two seconds. So you have proof it was recorded, but if google doesn't send it back to you in full-size format you can't view it. I'd suggest looking in the google help forums before purchasing this doorbell. If yours doesn't work right from the start, contact google to see the lack of help you will get, and make sure you return it to Verizon within the 30 day window, or you will be stuck with a video doorbell that does NOT work as a video doorbell, with no options other than to keep a non-functional device.

As a homeowner, I was looking for a doorbell that not only looked good, but also provided added security and convenience. The design is sleek and modern design that complements the exterior of my home. It's small and unobtrusive so it doesn't get too much attention from a distance. It has been excellent for with the HD video quality being crystal clear and the built-in motion detection alerts me whenever someone approaches my front door, even if they don't press the doorbell. The two-way audio feature works flawlessly. Amazing security product, totally worth it.

It clearly shows objects moving from a far away distance very clearly cars and people. It actually looks pretty nice on my house also. It's not big and chunky and ugly it has a slim line and very modern looking. I am very pleased with this item.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently upgraded my older video doorbell to the 2nd generation Nest doorbell and it is fantastic. It's hardwired, so I used the existing doorbell wiring and it only took me a few minutes to install. Setup was also a breeze in the Google Home app. The camera has pretty wide view and is quite clear, even at night. It does come with 3 hours of free event recording, but I opted for the annual subscription to get access to continuous recording and history. Overall, this is a great product if you're looking for a hardwired video doorbell.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've used nest products in our house for years. I like to think we're in the early adopter category, for what it's worth. That said, we didn't jump right into a doorbell cam because have an older house and already had nest cams and nest products installed around the house. It seemed a bit superfluous to install a doorbell cam, too. After some exterior home security issues on our street we decided to add a doorbell cam. I should have paid a little better attention tot he requirements before taking on the task of installing this with our house from the 1950s. Our doorbell wiring and transformer weren't compatible and we ended up recruiting an electrician friend to help with the install. After a few trips to the local big box hardware store we had what we needed. A day later we were installed and the project complete. We're very happy with the quality of the video and the ease of use on the app. There are some occasional loading glitches, but given how far technology has come in the past decade or two these glitches are minor. The glitches are predominately loading and buffering delays that seem to resolve themselves on their own if I'm patient.

It didn’t take too long to get everything up and in working order. My only complaint overall is the picture quality. I feel like it could be 100x better. Overall it was a nice addition.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had the Google Nest Doorbell (wired version and 2nd Generation) for a couple of weeks now. We have never had a smart doorbell before so I am thrilled with the extra security it brings to our home. My husband and I had to take some time and do some looking online at various articles to get it installed and make sure it integrated with our current doorbell chime. This took a little time but was well worth it in the end for the end result of having the security of the doorbell camera. Once we got it up and going, I had to do some research on the Google home app and how it worked with the doorbell. I got that figured out and was able to log in and see our doorbell camera in live mode. I had to go through the settings a bit to get it to notify me when people or animals walked by the doorbell. I am still working on figuring out the settings but even with my limited knowledge, I love the way it helps protect our family and our home! The doorbell also looks very stylish installed by our door. We are very happy overall with our Nest Doorbell!
