This Gizmo is ready for adventure, with a diamond-like coating protecting its larger 1.6" display from scratches. It comes with a wireless dock that makes it easy to just set it down, charge it up and go. For young minds, there’s a math game for turning idle time into learning time. Gizmo helps kids stay active with a daily step goal that you set for them in the GizmoHub app. Parents can use GizmoHub⁴ to manage, text, call¹ and locate² their child’s Gizmo. And with voice calls, a QWERTY keyboard and speech-to-text messages, it’s easy for kids and parents to stay in contact. This Gizmo model is without camera for parents who prefer to not have that option.

This is my review and experience, I realize not everyone will have the same experience but I do want to share, we live in the Burlington/Greensboro NC area as well. The watches seemed like an excellent fit for my three kids. I would know where they were, and if I set up geo-fencing, I would get an alert if they left the area. They could call and text me whenever they wanted. However, all three watches did not function as advertised. We kept them for about four days. It showed my daughter at a random house when she was at the place she was staying. She left with her grandma and it never alerted me to her leaving the area i set up, in talking to my wife, on her app it was showing my daughter at a grocery store, when she was at home. I was not 100% satisfied with the performance so I returned all three watches. I did love that my wife and I had control over who could call in and who they could call out to and that there was no internet service that they could access. I think if the equipment were of higher quality it would work as advertised.

Difficult set up

Yes, I'd recommend this product.

Hard set up replacing an old watch to a current line. I spent over an hour in the phone with support to activate it. At one point the service rep said it might be a watch issue and I’d have to take it back to the store but after a hour of resets he was able to get the watch online. Can’t seem to get the FaceTime option working either.

Regarding video calling, the Gizmo Watch 3 - Adventure does not have a camera, therefore video calling is not one of its features. We do have two other Gizmo models, Gizmo Watch 3 and GizmoWatch Disney Edition that do have cameras and video calling.

Of course, your child's location is a top concern. That's why location and map features are front and center on the GizmoHub app. Create location alerts to know your child's location at a specific time each day or when they cross in or out of specific areas. Tap the refresh location or real-time tracking buttons to get location updates on demand. Also, your child can easily use their Gizmo to check in and send you a real-time location notification.

Stay connected.

Keep in touch through voice calls and in-app messaging. Gizmo Watch 3 - Adventure comes with an accurate, easy to use QWERTY keyboard. Another cool feature is speech-to-text, allowing kids to talk to their Gizmo and have their words transcribed into text messages. Text message conversations can be one-to-one or a group chat. We've had this watch for less then 2 weeks. Already having issues with tracking. Unlike the Gizmo watch 3 that stopped tracking almost completely after 2 months... this one can track but the history disappears. Which is a big reason why we have the watch. Verizon is not ready to sell effective watches for kids, they simply have not put enough effort into the watches being up to par with other companies. Don't waste your money. Only up side is that the charging is better on this one then the gizmo 3.

This is our second Gizmo watch for our 8 year old daughter. Previously, she had the Gizmo 3 watch for 48 hours before she cracked the case while playing. I already had a protective case coming from Amazon, but it arrived about 6 hours too late. I decided to purchase this gizmo 3 adventure watch since it claims to be more durable — these are meant for younger kids who tend to be rough after all. I was happy to trade in the camera (a feature she didn’t really need and the pictures were super grainy) for increased durability. It arrived a couple days ago and she loves; however, I wanted to buy a watch cover for extra protection and can’t find one anywhere. This is rather frustrating since I don’t want to drop nearly $200 every couple months if they continue to get damaged. Verizon: please make a protective cover for this watch even if you do feel it’s durable enough as is. Young kids play rough and parents need all the extra protection we can get!

We agree; kids will be kids, and that's why Gizmo Watch 3 - Adventure's display has an added layer of protection, that is, a Diamond-like Carbon Coating (DLC) for scratch resistance. In addition, the display's frame edge is slightly raised, to help keep it from making contact with other surfaces if the watch is laid face down (although, of course it's better to lay the watch on its side or face up). Thanks again.

I am very dissappointed with this watch. It requires its own app and does not text straight to my phone ever. Looks like a little kid toy watch.

App constantly disconnects-forcing a reconnection process which is not possible if the watch is not present. Very hard to get a good connection thru Verizon to actually hear on a phone call. Overpriced and dissappointing.

Worth every penny for a younger kid

Yes, I'd recommend this product.

This watch is great! No camera so one less thing for my younger kiddo to use. I love the tracking on it. We live rural and Verizon works well out here with our cells and this watch. My kid is non verbal and there's a great peace of mind with being able to sound his watch for his school if needed or look on GPS for peace of mind. This new watch has some cool upgrades compared to the regular gizmo 3 but my older kid is happy with the regular 3 compared to this one being for younger kids I personally think.

What are the recommended specs for a wall power adapter / charging block for the wireless charger?

Can you use any wireless charger? Just purchased for my son and he travels back and fourth from my house to his moms and that’s one more thing to go missing in transport

does the screen lock on this one? on my son‘s old gizmo, he was constantly calling people by accident

The screen does not lock, but it is very unlikely that the watch will watch will make an unintended call because of the multi-step process, that is, you must wake the device, swipe to the list of contacts, tap on a contact, and then tap the call icon.

Does this come with the charge block or just the cable? For the price I'm hoping it comes with everything to be able to charge it right out of the box

Is there an option to purchase a case for this model watch? The 2 I tried on Amazon doesn't allow the touch screen to work with the case on it.

There is not a case for Gizmo Watch 3 - Adventure but you may be interested to know that the watch does have a diamond-like carbon coating (DLC) for added protection against scratches on the display.
