We appreciate your time in providing your feedback on our JBL Bar 500. We understand that its subwoofer's bass didn't meet your expectations. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll make sure to share your feedback to the appropriate team. Also, since our JBL Bar 5.1 with detachable speakers has been discontinued, you might want to consider our JBL Bar 700 which has the same feature.jbl.com Originally posted on jbl.com

JBL Bar 500 5.1 Channel Soundbar FAQs

Where is the audio sync button? I don't see it on the remote.
On the remote control of our JBL Bar 500, press and hold the TV for more than three seconds and then, press the plus sign. “SYNC” is displayed on the soundbar. Within five seconds, press the volume minus or plus on the remote control to adjust the audio delay and match it with the video. The audio sync timing is displayed. If you need more help, please contact our customer support for assistance.

Can I add Bluetooth speakers for additional channels
Our JBL Bar 500 is a stand-alone soundbar system and can't be added or paired with any additional speakers.

My old tv just has regular hdmi and optical, can I still use the earc connection between the Soundbar and tv
Thanks for reaching out. If your TV only has a regular HDMI and Optical port, you won't be able to use the eARC connection, as it requires an HDMI eARC port on both the TV and the audio device. You can still connect the JBL Bar 500 using the regular HDMI or Optical for audio. However, please note that high audio quality and advanced audio formats like the Dolby Atmos require an eARC connection.

Does the JBL 500 HDMI input support ARC or eARC? I want to integrate it into a multi-zone receiver setup and use the soundbar HDMI inputs as an audio passthrough. Will the JBL 500 will play the TV sound and pass it to the receiver if connected this way?
Thanks for your inquiry. Our JBL Bar 500 supports ARC. Since it already has a built-in amplifier, you don't need to connect it to a receiver. If you need more help, please contact our customer support.

I have a Roku Ultra connected to my Samsung TV. If I connect the Bar 500 to the TV will the Roku remote control the volume of the Bar 500? Or, it there another way to connect the Roku Ultra and Bar 500 so the Roku remote controls the volume?
Your Roku sends audio and video to your TV, which then sends audio to your soundbar. There's no direct communication between Roku and your Bar 500, but it may be possible if your Roku has CEC functionality so it can send commands directly to your TV. You can only adjust the soundbar volume using your TV remote. Contact Roku support for further assistance.

Can I have my TV on a movie but listen music from my iPhone at the same time? I could do this with my old JBL but I wonder if it’s because I used the audio cord instead of the HDMI.
Our JBL Bar 500 will prioritize the HDMI connection when connected to your TV or other source therefore it can't play from another source device at the same time.

What is the difference between this soundbar JBL bar 500 and the JBL 5.1 w/ soundbar.
The main difference between the JBL Bar 500 and the Bar 5.1 is the Bar 5.1 has detachable surround speakers while the Bar 500 has none. The Bar 500 is also compatible with the JBL One App which helps you easily set up, personalize settings, and browse the integrated music services to find your favorite song.
